This ones especially for Satch...

The FM tuner bug causes FM Radio to stutter/break up after about 20 minutes of playing.

A forum on The Green Button indicated that this occurred on tuner cards that have both the FM and TV aerials connected.  It appears that after a period of time the tuner switches to the TV aerial for FM reception causing the issue to appear.

One solution suggested removing the TV aerial from the tuner card - this in effect does fix the issue - which is great if you don't watch TV.  For everyone else it sucks to be you...

If you are using multiple tuner cards ie HVR2200 for Freeview, HVR4000(s) for Sky for example, there is a more workable fix - by selecting a tuner card which doesn't use the TV aerial ie one of the 4000's for FM.  In most cases it seems to default to the 2200.

One way to do this is as follows (if your not comfortable with the registry don't do it):

Please note if you don't have multiple tuners this won't work.  You need a card without a terrestial aerial attached.

Edit the registry:

Search for the following:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Service\Video\Tuners

The FM tuners are located in the second section of this, along with the Analog TV tuners.

You are looking for the keyword: ConfigureTuningSpace = FM Radio

If you delete the entries (just delete the whole key) for the cards which have a TV aerial (in my case HV2200 or Hauppauge WinTV 7164), it will cycle through and use one of the other cards.  In my case it picked the 4000's in the first slot.  You will need to move your FM aerial to the correct card.

In the case the HVR3/4000's the analog and digital tuner sections are separate, so you can still record Sky while listening to FM for example.

Problem solved... Until MS/Hauppauge fix it properly.

Cheers,

Awww shucks Rusty! Embarassed

Thanks for the info though.  Will try it out tonight along with the other fix you emailed me.  If I call you in tears then you know it has all gone horribly wrong...
