I have recently built an HTPC for an older couple to be used with their plasma from the comfort of the couch. Its running Windows 7 Home Premium and controlled via a Logitech MediaBoard Pro Bluetooth keyboard.
Unfortunately I did not anticipate that the client would shutdown the pc using the power button on the case and also impatiently press the button multiple times when trying to startup up (I should have seen that coming).
The problem this presents in that Windows then asks whether to 'Start Windows Normally' or to run a repair. This of course requires input from the user, but because the keyboard it bluetooth, its utterly dead during this period.
I need an elegant solution so that this senario doesn't occur. I'd prefer that this startup state never occurs and that the 'Start Windows Normally' is always attempted (if the problem is serious, I can then deal with it).
If there is anything I can do to set this default, I'd love to know.
The second and less favourable option is to have a wired keyboard permanently attached.
I'd rather not confuse the client with more proceedures that they are likely to forget and I don't want to add clutter to their relatively tasteful setup either. If I could get away with just a number pad rather than a fully fledged keyboard then that would make it easier to stash.
All comments welcome.
