Hi I'm new to these forums. I went to Harvey Norman today and bought an RCA Audio Cable (2 RCA Plugs to 2 RCA Plugs) so that I can connect my Sony Home Theatre System to my Sky Digital box. Just in case, I asked a lady working there if they will work. She said it will. At first I was a little confused because the Sky has one Audio OUT input and there were 2 RCA Plugs. So I plugged the red RCA plug in the Sky box and 2 RCA Plugs (red and white) in the home theatre system. Nothing happened so instead of plugging in the red one, I plugged in the white. Still nothing happened. Im pretty new to all home audio so I'm wondering what I should do to make it work.

Thanks :)

What model Sky STB do you have?

There should be two RCA terminals on the back for audio, one saying L and one saying R. One should be white and one should be red. You should simply connect the cable from these into the audio input on your home threatre system.

I not sure what model I have, but it's the small, silver box, not the big black box.

I did plug 2 RCA cables into the Home Theatre System (the red one in the red input and the white one in the white input). The sky box has one audio OUT input so I plugged the red RCA in there, but nothing happened so I plugged the white RCA. That didnt work either.

I'm guessing you mean the Pace one. This box has white and red connectors on the back for audio. From memory they are actually the only two RCA connectors on the back of the box.

You should just need to connect the cable from these two plugs into a line input on your home theatre system.

Why dont you use the audio out of one of the scart(purple)cables.
Or,if one of these is going to you VCR,take the audio out to your HT

I think I get what u mean. Ive looked at the back of the VCR and there are 3 purple plugs (white, red and yellow). I took all of them out and plugged the red and white into the TV/VIDEO AUDIO IN of the Home Theatre Sytem, but nothin happened.

If you get audio via the VCR but don't plugging the white and red plugs into the home theatre system it would suggest the problem lies with the home theatre system. Do you have it set to the correct input?

The small black socket next to the LNB input (Coax cable from Dish) is your dedicated audio out, if you want to connect your audio cables back into your VCR, go swap the cable you got from HN for one like this...

Its just two RCA cables to a single 3.5mm stereo plug ( same as on headphones) Pudney part #P546 (HN will know the part number)
