So exactly what's the story with Windows Media Center Internet TV? And with Media Center in general for that matter...

I havea laptop running Windows Ultimate 7 and Media Center doesn't show Internet TV. It doesn't appear on my HTPC (Dell Zino HD with Windows Ultimate).

But I have just installed Windows 7 Ultimate to a VMWare Virtual Machine, and Internet TV is there. It won't play some content but most of the TV clips and news programmes are available - and playing.

So what makes Windows decide to show Internet TV?

I'm picking it's your global location? Perhaps vm ware masks this?

There seems to be 2 parts
1) When you install you set your location, if this is set to US then it shows internet tv/netflix etc etc

2) As soon as you tune tv and enter a non US location it will however remove the internet tv portion but leave the Sports section..

If you were to use a US based proxy, the content that won't play do to IP restrictions will play...

Hmmm. The IP address is certainly mine based on that some "content is not available in your region".

But I think you are right - VMWare allows for a quick install which basically asked for username and password you want as well as the key, and the application install the OS from the DVD image without futher intervention.

Now that you mention it, I'd guess the Locale is set as U.S. instead of New Zealand. Doh... Didn't think of that. Will check later when I get to the VM again.
