Hi all

My question is fairly self explanitory: can graphics card drivers affect the signal strength or quality, or tuning reliability of a TV card?

The reason I ask is that a couple of times now when watching TV channels with low strength/quality signals in MediaPortal 1.0.2 I have had a lockup after which the graphics card driver comes up claiming to have recovered from some serious error. I am using hardware acceleration, so maybe it is just that the video stream throws a curveball at the HA hardware.

Note: I'm using a Sapphire (ATI) HD4670 with Catalyst 9.4.

TIA

I think what the problem is the the signal was dodgy, and when the signal is pixelated, it can stuff up the graphics driver. (crashes the DXVA I guess)

I got the same thing with my old ATI - when it VPU recovered, sometimes it would go into 8 bit mode, sometimes not.

My Nvidia did it also, but not as often.

Suggest you try a signal booster and see how that goes (get it from DSE, so you can take it back if it doesn't help)
