Any thoughts on this would be appreciated - has me puzzled.

Year or more ago, a serviceman created for us a very nice cable system that has wall sockets around the house carrying a signal that combines the terrestrial signal from Freeview with the ouput from MySky. We can plug any tv into the wall and get both digital services. In the study, I've taken the feed from the wall socket to a Hauppauge HVR-3000 in my desktop (the video card is an ATI Radeon HD4830). I"d earlier run Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit on this machine using WMC7 to watch and record live tv and, like the television sets, no problem. But I recently moved over (dual boot) to Windows 7 Prof 64-bit connected to the wall using the same tv tuner and video card (obviously). When I scan for channels I get only the Freeview stuff but NOT the Sky signal. Have tried upteen times. Have gone back to the 32-bit installation and rescanned - always, it picks up the Sky signal. Reboot to the 64-bit installation, scan using exactly the same settings and I'm unable to get it. Completely puzzled. It can't be a hardware issue since the hardware is the same on both installations. So it's a software problem? - with WMC7? Anyone able to offer any suggestions? (BTW: before you ask, yes, have the latest Win7 drivers)

I'm asking this question again since no-one responded previously. Anyone have any thoughts?

As an additional piece of information. I'd run the 32-bit version of Win7 for several months and during that period had experimented with various pieces of media-related software, such as WinTV7, Cyberlink Cinema, MediaPortal and so on - all uninstalled since I concluded that none of them beat my preferred setup of J River Media Centre for all music and video streaming throughout the house (and WMC for tv streaming at my desktop in the study). I'm wondering if one of those installations left behind a codec or something that was capable of receiving the Sky signal on the 32-bit application. I"ve not played to the same extent on my 64-bit installation. It may be a stupid question but one of you who knows more about this field may be able to assist... I'm hoping so, anyway. Thanks in advance.

OK so I take it you are scanning analogue for the Sky output verses the Freeview|HD service which is DVB-T?
I have never directly "tuned in" an analogue source. Only ever from composite.

I wonder if it is somehow getting mucked up by having the duel boot setup. Can you not rebuild with just the 64 install?

How much ram does the PC have?

Thanks for your reply netv. No, I get the combined signal (Freeview + Sky) via the terrestrial scan - the signal is fed via cable throughout the house but connects to the antenna connector on the video card, a Radeon HD 4850 (and no, 'cable' setting doesn't work - I've tried all the combinations and permutations available in WMC).

I can't think of any way that the two installations would interere with each other - if nothing else they're on different drives (not just different partitions on one drive). I've kept both because a couple of bits of photographic software I use don't function properly on 64-bit so periodically I use the 32-bit.

8GB of RAM. And hardware is identical for both installations.

Any other thoughts? From anyone?

I assume you have installed the 64bit drivers for the tuner card in your 64 bit OS? 32bit ones will install, but I could not use dual tuners or tune in prime when mine was running 32 bit drivers. I uninstalled and downloaded the 64bit win7 drivers from hauppauge and it all worked ok. Weird, but have to ask.

Thanks Rolux. I'm pretty certain I checked that too but I'll have to wait till I get home to confirm. At present I'm picking up all the Feeview channels beautifully on the 64-bit installation - no issues there at all. Just the absence of Sky. But your experiences (not picking up Prime with the 32-bit driver) make me wonder whether there's not something about the 64-bit driver that does not enable/prevents it from reading the Sky signal... in which case, I'm stuck with it...? My knowledge doesn't extend to code or software engineering so I'm in the dark as to whether this is a possibility. Do you or anyone else have any thoughts on this?

When you boot up in 64 bit, uninstall the tuner card. Download from hauppauge.co.uk the 64 bit drivers for this card and reboot back into 64bit. Then install the drivers that were downloaded. Reboot again and test.
This will not affect the 32 bit version in any way

I was dual booting 32bit XPMCE and 64bit Win7 before making the final move to Win7. Drivers are completely different between the two and don't interfere with one another as the PC only runs one OS (and therefore, it's specefic set of drivers) at a time

Thanks Rollux. As I said 2-3 posts previously, I too doubt there would be interference 64-bit to 32-bit - apart from anything else, I have three disks on my desktop (it's the machine from which I administer the network and prefer not to have more than 2 partitions on any one disk) and the Win7 installations are on different disks. I'm fairly certain I've already tried the 'reinstall' path but, as we're all too aware with computers, 'sometimes it does and sometimes it don't...' so I'll try that again when I get the chance. Interesting you mention the UK site - I've tended to download from the Singapore site. I don't suppose...??? Nah, couldn't be....
