Did Logitech ever replace the Z5500 speaker system with anything else, or was that it for their foray into the digital world for speaker systems ? :)

No they didn't. In fact logitech have just recently pulled out of multi-speaker systems. They now only offer 2.1 systems, which i personally think was a bad move. I own a set of z-5500's, best computer speakers i think ill ever own Laughing

Hmm oh well... was hoping they kept up with it as Ill be on the look out for a decent set towards end of the year for use with the PS3.

Dont really want a component system in the lounge but looks like might have to go that way :)

XPD, Sony's bringing out PS3 5.1 Soundbar.

Anyhow, Logitech Z-5500 still have high pricetag at around RRP$899. They did have Z-5450 which has wireless (rear) surround.

Hmm had a quick look at the sound bar... nice idea etc but Id prefer 5/7.1 - the lounge setup isnt ideal for a "virtual" soundfield.

Everyone seems to have sold out of the Z5500's, hence my post :)

As far as I'm aware the Z55s are pretty much the sensible limit of active speakers after that I'd start getting into seperate components. A bit more trouble yes but definitely worth the effort.

computerstore.co.nz have them in stock according to pricespy.co.nz for around $660. My friend bought the G-51 series not so long ago and doesn't regret it one bit.

I'm actually disappointed to hear they are not doing more 5.1's as i'm looking at getting some for myself soon and honestly don't think i would trust any other company for quality sound without using a compnent system.

Just as a question was asked.. Logitech is bringing/has brought out Logitech Surround Sound Speakers Z506 http://www.logitech.com/en-us/speakers-audio/home-pc-speakers/devices/7191?wt.mc_id=global_pr-z506_r...

Probably not a awesome as Z-5500, seeing that there's now indication of THX or what not... just a pretty basic 5.1 multi-input (basic).

I was only passing information on that i received from my Rep at Dove (Logitech distributor). Those systems maybe on the US site but if you check the NZ site it only has the Z-530 available and ive heard that these wont be around for too much longer.
