Hi,

I've been using revens xmlTVNZ tool as I am still on vista, however I have noticed that the freeview xml source I have been using is not longer updating and will run out at the end of the weekend.

The url I have been using is... http://listings.tvnz.co.nz/freeview/%cc%_7days.xml

I am just wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a replacement source for freeview channels (if you have it working with xmlTVNZ that would be helpful)  Ideally I am looking for one source, and whatever freeview is using now would be great.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Can't you run the EPG Collector instead of getting online?

I can run the software, but can't get bladerunner pro (or any other tool I have tried) to import it into vista.  It's a bit of a problem still being on vista unfortunately.

Looking at the freeview website it looks like the listings are still at listings.tvnz.co.nz but the format of the url has changed.  I guess I just need to analyse all the calls the flash app on the freeview website makes to try and figure out the new url for the xml data.

And what tool do you use to import the XMLTVNZ source now? Doesn't it load *any* XMLTV file or just that one source?

I use the bladerunner app.  It needs a couple of xml files to perform the import, including the guide data and a channelinfo xml file.  I tried to see if I could manipulate the data from the EPG Grabber tool to work with bladerunner, but gave up after a couple of hours.  I might need to revisit things if I can't get a replacement xml source for xmTVNZ

I have the same issue, my listings finish Sunday night and we are heading away. My wife is horrified that she won't have her programs recorded.

Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated.

Cheers
Richard

If you can get us a couple of sample xml files that bladerunner uses we may be able to add an option to EPG Collector to create the files for you.

PM me and I'll let you have my email address.

Cheers

Steve

OK, got it working with EPGCollector, in the end wasn't as big a drama as I was expecting it to be.  Steps I used to change from a tvnzxml/bladerunner to epg collector/bladerunner set-up

1) Install EPG Collector onto the PC
2) copy the channelinfo.xml file over from the tvnzxml folder
3) Edit the channelinfo.xml file so that the channelID tag matches the Channel ID tags created in the epgcollector xml output file
4) edit the scheduled batch file I was using to do the guide import, from using tvnzxml to epg collector

It all just worked, however I needed to re-assign the guide to the TV channels.  I also changed the .ini file to only grab the channels I have on my media PC to save on processing required.

Well... the source for my batch file collection seems to have stopped working al together now, so I guess I might have to use the MHEG5 version... :(

My sister rang me today to say that her EPG no longer had any data on any channels. (She just watches Freeview channels as do I). I checked my EPG and sure enough - no data either. Was working a day or two ago.

I use a retail version of Bigscreen EPG on Windows7, she uses Bladerunner on Win XP MCE from memory.

Neither of us have changed anything so it has to be something at the other end. She did ring a short time ago saying that she went through the whole EPG setup again with MCE and its not working.

I'm reluctant to change settings as the last time this happened to me (about 4 months ago) I just about pulled my hair out, gave up as it wouldn't work, went on holiday for 5 days, and came back and the damn thing was working fine! I'm hoping if I leave it - I may be lucky once more.

I have to wonder though, what has changed and is it temporary or permanent. I have used the same provider for about 4 years despite sky bugging him from time to time.

Any suggestions?

Same here - are we using the same source for our EPG data? Domain name of my source starts with an h, ends with an h  (not wanting to point copyright police in a specific direction).

I'm feeling a world of pain here with my Vista MCE - no up to date listings, Wife acceptance Factor dropping rapidly.

I've been planning on moving from Vista to Win7, as well as from analogue to DVB-T, but didn't want it forced on me in quite this way!

An earlier attempt with Bladerunner some time ago failed for me and resulted in hours of effort and no progress.

If anyone knows how to contact "Mr H" and give his source of data a nudge I'd appreciate it!

Hmmm... Maybe we could point a big light into the sky in the shape of an H.  It's night time, so he might see it and come running...

I'm doubley screwed.

The MHEG5 EPG Collector doesn't work for me :(.  The app just crashes when it runs the .exe. (Vista).

With no EPG, and no alternative, and an imminent overseas business trip, i'm feeling very vulnerable about the wifey factor.

OH dear :(

Hmm , seems the big H in the sky overight didn't work, still no data this morning.

I too am heading overseas later this week (Bathurst of course) and as above my wife satisfaction factor is also dropping rapidly. Seems every time I go away, my guide konks out. After singing the virtues of a bloody handy system to each house sitter, I always seem to end up with eeg on my face.

Assuming its the data source thats causing the problem as opposed to the program itself, are there any similar alternatives yet? Since I have paid for Bigscreen (a whole $30) I'd like to keep using it if possible as it works fine (when data keeps coming of course).

Else I will have to look at changing the whole thing - not something I want to do just before going away quite frankly.
