I've got a Samsung series 6 TV LA40B650. When I first power it on I get a huge amount of infrared interference from the backlight which makes my MCE remote very unresponsive.

If I have the backlight set to at least 7 the issue goes away after (~60sec) enough that remote becomes usable although I do still the IR receiver LED flashing away. If I set the backlight to 5 which is probably closer to where I'd like it, I get constant interference.

The problem has been reported elsewhere online with some claiming that Samsung will replace the inverter board for the backlight to fix the problem. has anyone had this issue or had it resolved?

*Edit - On second thought this might have been better in HTPC. Anyone what to move it over?*

As you can see from my sig I have the Samsung 32" R8 LCD (model LA32R81BH). I also use the MCE remote, and am, at present, using the MCE keyboard. I have never had any issue with the TV affecting the kepress response.

Where is your IR receiver placed? mine is on the opposite side (right side) of my AV/HTPC rack, which is also to the right of the TV, with the receiver some 400mm rightside & some 200mm below the TV's base stand.

Hmmmmmm thats interesting. We recently moved from a pre-series 4 Samsung LCD to a series 5 (I think) LED.

The last week or so the remote has been very sluggish. Often sending enter twice and often not responding at all. I put it down to the age of the remove but I wonder if its related.

My receiver is on the floor under the cabinet the tv sits on, front and center.

Ill have a play and see if moving it makes any difference.

I spoke to Samsung NZ yesterday and they've never heard of the problem and suggested that if a tech comes out and doesn't find a manufacturing fault I'll be up for a fee. So yeah not too sure whether I can be bothered pursuing it.....

I might need to check this out myself. We have a Samsung series 6 and one of our MCE remotes is not working too well, I assumed it was a bad IR Receiver (which it probibly still is) but maybe its not.

I wouldnt trust Samsung at all to be honest. I had the power supply on my LED blow up last month and they claimed it was teh first time they had ever heard of it happening.

Strangely enough there are dozens of websites and even more youtube clips with the exact same problem and how to repair it yourself !

Im still having trouble with the remote not being that responsive so perhaps it is an issue :(

I also had some probs with a samsung tv (in my case a plasma pn58c7000) and my IR receiver. Took me ages to figure out it was interference from the tv.

Solution I stumbled across is very low tech. Put a piece(possibly 2) of masking tape over the IR sensor. I opened up my unit to put it behind the cover so it didn't look ugly. You would think the masking tape might block it, but it worked a treat. GL.
