Hey experts,

I have a Projector with a 5.1 surround sound system and considering using speakers in the roof.
Which ones can I place in the roof , so as to miminise decorative impact and which ones on walls.

Ideally I'd like most on roof ?

Cheers

What type of surround sound system do you have?

ie is it a receiver that you can connect to your own speakers, or is it an all in one system that comes with it's own speakers attached?

Ok, well first step is to look on the back of the speakers you currently have and find the ohm rating on them. If they say 8 ohm then you can substitute most alternative speakers fairly easily. It they say 4 ohm then that limits your options, but you could probably find something that would work. If they say 2 ohm then you are really a bit stuffed trying to find a suitable wall/ceiling mount substitute.

If it is an all in one unit (home theatre in the box) then you may well be out of luck.
What is the brand / amplifier model number?
That will help us suggest the right path forward...

Does it have regular Audio cable binding posts or spring clips?...A lot of them have propriety Connections for there own speakers that can be a real pain...

Boston Acoustics have a range of in wall and in ceiling speakers. These are available from Avalon NZ.
