Hauppauge HDPVR - but it won't get HD for movies, TVNZ or TV3 (copy restrictions flag sets component I don't specificaly se this in WMC, but know others who do.
up to 1080i component input, with onboard h264 encoder - also takes the optical out for AC3. It has pass-through / loop for each input too, so youcan still run it to your amp etc.
Not as good as using some type of card reader & getting the raw feeds from sat, as it still has to encode the image, but my results from EPL games have been good.
Thanks for your reply but let me explain further... I have a ion media pc running windows media center 7 with tv tuner that runs freeview and has mymovies hooked up to a couple of thousand movies and I use epg collector and epg hound. For what I use it for it rocks.
The thing is I really like discovery and national geographic and I want to add the sky channels to my setup changing it as little as possible, i don't mind adding new hardware but i really like my media setup the way it is and dont wanna use the sh!tty myski interface and sky needs to be HD.

You might be better to stick wh SD for those 2 (esp. discovery - terrible picture, blocky etc) There is no HD feed for those channels, so they will be in SD 576i

Have you used MySky? - the interface is really rather clean, no lags either.
I record in HD usng the setup I said - 1080i football to h264 with 5.1 AC3, then if I want to keep a disc, recode it to an 8GB AVCHD.
Bu yeah, if I had the choice I would try using the direct sat connection, but the wife likes to use sky box to surf.
I understand that the Hauppauge HD-PVR will grab HD from Sky if you pair it with an HDFury2 or HDFury3 unit. That is what I am looking at doing in the new year. I have the Hauppauge already, and will probably order a Fury in early January.
