Are there any HTIB sets on the market at the moment that are region free outbid the box?

All the ones I have looked at show the region label as 4, however sales assistant talked to yesterday indicated that pioneer and sony are often region free out of the box. As buying as a gift, would rather not have to send in for servicing to get this changed.
