Greetings gentle readers..

As the topic header says.........
I am fighting, and LOSING the battle with a

Sky dish
Sharp LNB  LO10750
Engel Digi-tracker H-H Motor
Digistar DSS 811UB STB

I started aligning the motor to 338deg (Mag north minus 22 deg declination)
the motor/dish assembly the same.

Entered my lat/long for my location
(Tawa Wellington New Zealand)as

41.1 South x 174.8 E
ast

Went into the menu structure and selected Optus D2
the motor whirred into life and swung the dish around to point approx DUE EAST!!!    WTF?

If anybody has had any experience setting up a H-H motor with a Freeview STB, and actually made it work, I would be grateful for help and advice.

Is the setting for the LNB USER or UNIVERSAL?
Do I set the HH motor to Mag north for a start, NOT 338 Deg?
If I edit the Satellite to be ie, Optus D2 as 152W Will that make the STB swing the dish in the correct direction?
Am i I just wasting my time?   LOL

Brunzy: Probably set for northern hemisphere

Try west

Yup, that was my take, So I altered the site locale to read.

41.1 SOUTH
174.8 WEST

and optus d2 as XXX West

That sortof worked, inasmuch as I got noises from them magic box (meter) as it swung straight past the bloody Satellite!!

Have I bought the wrong STB?  If so, I got a $200 dollar 500Gb 2.5 drive out of it!

Moved this to correct forum as this has nothing to do with Freeview, where it was originally posted.

Thanks to the very helpful owner of DTVS in Tawa, who guided me through the process, I have several satellites available now. Its very obvious that a sky dish with a dual lnb is not ideal, nor is the rubbish Digistar STB.

The problem that was foxing me was my start point. I went back to setting up the initial point and aligned the dish on D1.  There were very minor adjustments to my location, mere tenths of degrees.

I can now sit in my man-cave and watch foreign language TV or a host of God Channels.  Woop-de doo!!
I am SURE God is very impressed.

Now to move the dish from being clamped to my deck railings, to back up on the roof.

I am going to be looking for a larger dish, maybe 1.2M.

I Thanks to all who commented and helped.

Bob
