I'm pretty damn annoyed.

The other day , all my series link recordings disappeared for no obvious reason so last night I reentered all of wednesdays series links yesterday afternoon.

I always series link record 3 news, amongst others.

So, tonight (thursday) I come into the lounge at 6.30pm, and lo and behold , the red record light is off. So, I check the series link recordings and they have all disappeared again.

The thing with series link, unless you can trust it to work then there is no point having this. Especially for episodes where missing an episode is terrible with such shows as lost/24 .

Anyone else had issues with series links disappearing this week?

I did notice that some were missing during the week, but some like Monk are not on next week, so those bookings will be lurking there waiting to reappear when the series does. The only missing ones were Joey and Lost, and, looking just now, they have reappeared. I have not lost any recordings due to this, and all my bookings are now in order.

Did you try rebooting (GoBack and Select on the front panel)? I would try that. Did you have a power failure? I have noticed that turning off the power gets it messed up and you have to reboot afterwards to straighten it out again.

Did you try rebooting? Did it help?

I've been having problem with Series link as well. just stopped recording the news one day. I set it to record the news the next day, used the series link button, it scanned for seies info and... only recorded the one day I'd set manually. Grrr.

I'll try the reboot and let you know if it clears up.

Was that One News perchance? Mine skipped it a couple days - was it last week? Seems to be going ok now. It's almost as if they changed the internal series code or something, and so it didn't notice cuz the code was wrong. I have my HDDR recording TV3 News off the antenna for just such emergencies. Cool

yup it was one news. I'll let you know how things progress. I think the series info might not be that well QC'ed given that other shows don't offer series link despite being series...

My understanding is that there is some level of human involvement in identifying and setting series link codes on the programs. I mean, obviously everything that comes out of computers was originally put in by humans, but what I mean in this case is that the computer program that causes shows to be broadcast is not necessarily the same one that sets the series link info in the EPG. And indeed the one controlling broadcasts may not know what is a series and what is not.

Bottom line, the series link info may not be perfect, and it pays to babysit it to some degree. It's easy to check, though, isn't it, compared to a vcr or hddr. I still go through the Listener every day, circle the programs I am interested in and ensure they are booked.

There seems to be some quirk if you watch a programme as its being recorded. It doesn't seem to spawn the programme entry for the next episode in the series reliably. still checking though...

I've just spoken to the MySky technical support team (no, really, that's what they call themselves ...) about series link as mine stopped working altogether a couple of days ago (the link icon comes up but the next prog. is never identified or recorded). Apparently they are having a 'software issue at their end' with series link at the moment, they're currently trying to fix it and sending out various updates to people as they go along.
Basically what this means is if your series link is currently working it probably won't be by tomorrow !! eta for the fix is ..
"errrrm, we don't know yet"
Well that's alright then.

Just a thought, why don't they send out a broadcast message to users to let them know that series link isn't working that way we would at least know to set everything up manually

Is anyone's series link working now? I have not seen a single booking come up from series link for over a week now. I have resorted to manual recording for daily programs, and re-entering the others each time. Still easier than my HDDR, but still it would be nice if it worked!
