Does anyone have their flat screen plasma on the wall? I am considering putting one on the wall, but none of the shops i have been to can give me an approximate price on the bracket and the installation. Has anyone here done it - any learnings you can share? - especially around hiding cables, 'viewability' etc

PS: I am looking at buynig the panasonic 42 inch plamsa (SD) - Does anyone else find it damm frustrating that you have to also buy a panasonic stand or cabinet to fit the telly?? unless you put it on the wall . . .

I looked at doing the same thing but gave up because my house has concrete walls. The brackets are based on a VESA standard. I did look around and the big retailers wanted to charge about $650 for a wall mount. The cheapest one I found was at Jaycar in Wellington for about $150.

My Plasma came with the stand in the price.

DSE also stock a range of VESA mounting brackets (VESA is the standard for the mounting holes in the back of LCD/Plasma screens)

If you are in Wgtn Egley electrical also offer some good prices on brackets as well.

A decent job would be around the $800 mark for a pro to do it

That's pretty steep when the most expensive bracket I've seen capable of supporting a 60" Plasma was only $399! Assuming you know how to find a stud in a wall then $400 to put a few screws into the wall seems a bit excessive!

yes, that does seem expensive. it's add's nearly 25% on top of the cost of the 4k panasonic 42in Plasma . . . i have been told it would be 'about $500' for a bracket and installation, but i dont know any one who has got one. i also need a tilting one so i can get at the cables and inputs when need be (hopefully not often) It also seems crazy that the cheapest pedal stool is around $350 for a panasonic, and this goes up to a cabinet worth $1000 . .

$800 is aprox. we dont actually charge the customer for the work, we supply the bracket and Andre charges for his labour seperately as the customer may want other stuff done while hes there
Could be less could be more?
The bracket is $150 for fixed or tilting Omni mount, PV500 you want a tilting so it would sit flush because of its huge arse

Then its about $650 labour to put it onto the wall and have it all perfect and the cables run inside the wall etc etc
Andre is awesome to deal with, hes a perfectionist and wont settle for anything less than perfect

He helped us at the shop to get all our 42" and 50" brackets onto the wall aswell as three of the guys used him to do installs at home
Hes the kind of person that can justify $20,000 per speaker in his own house, and he has

Top notch work

A lot of the guys that Bond n Bond etc etc use dont really know jack, just a service tech thats been given a cordless drill and sent out to do it

FYI

As for pana mounting, NZ cabs are all thats left now $250, nz pedastal $200 from memory, dont have any jap cabinets left but they were $400 and the jap padestals i dont think theres any left they were $400 for hte 42" pv500 and the 32LX500 cab was $200

Still yet to see the PV600s in person, was mega sick when they had the product release and I cbf going out south to look at a tv
