Given that he has only made 55 sales in his many years of being a TradeMe seller (and most of those likely lower value ones) might suggest you stay in your current employment.

I suspect TradeMe is largely an advertising medium for this well known high end audio importer.

I was thinking of selling low loss compressed air in bottles that you spray into your listening room to aid the sound to your ears, obviously I would need one of those power cables to run my air compressor though.

Yep they are completely rubbish, why else would Yamaha or Onkyo include standard jug cord power cables with their most expensive amps still?

If you have dodgy video signals/audio issues, get your power cable, put it in tin foil and cover that with foam hot water insulation. Or move your cables furthur away from the power cable if possible :) does wonders!

If you have dodgy power and get a few spikes then get a power conditioner/surge protector or UPS!

Also, those cables can be had for $350USD, so he's upping the price a lot. even at $350 it's a total ripoff. I'd pay a max of $10, just because it's a standard power cable with a nice pretty outside

The voltage drop over a cable that lenght would be so little that I can't possible see a benifit.

You'd be better off spending $1,150 on an electrician to make sure the houses wiring in as efficient as possible.

i.e. 100% efficient over 6ft compared to the 10 meter length of cable in your walls that is 50 years old and single strand copper!

where is the rolly eyes emoticon???

Notice that is a US plug? You will need a $2 adapter with all its loss to plug your $1,150 cable...

[ok, he says the cable is different, with a NZ plug... which I doubt is "gold" anyway]

Hey don't be mean; good quality cables are vitally important in any superior and overly expensive audio system.

Once you've provided enough shielding to protect your digital signal a good quality cable can still make improvements above this to the signal. A system will glow and feel much warmer with expensive cables, much more than a standard power cable.

I think everyone should be spending $1,000+ on their power cables alone, that would make the world a better place, and people would appreciate their music so much more.

Ummm - the only gold that seems to be involved in this is the "gold" in "golden ratio". That is the claimed basis for the claimed enhancement - that aspects of the design are drawn from the golden ratio/section of geometry.

Well, phi on you, I say.

Mind you, stranger things have happened. What I'd need is a clear physical definition of what is being claimed, and verified physical measurement that the claim is valid.

At the very least, give me some theoretical basis why a mystic ratio that relates to the human perception of visual aesthetics could have a physical effect; after that, some theory about how anything about the delivery of electricity beyond voltage, current, power factor, and frequency, and variations in these, makes its way past the power supply, since these are invariably designed to eliminate all such effects!

If anyone thinks these cables will make a difference from a $20 cable is smoking something they should not be,

The trademe ad is misleading
