If my theory is correct, modding the Jaycar reader to run at 5mhz should remove the 10sec glitch on 17xx cards when used with Jokers ndscam. 17xx cards support three clocks, 3.57mhz, 4mhz, and 5mhz. The Jaycar reader only runs at 3.57mhz and 6mhz. Im assuming to mod the Jaycar reader for 5mhz I just replace one of the crystals with a 5mhz crystal? The baud rate settings in ndscam config would also need to be 53763bps to match the clock speed.
Others have been tried but they are set by software, like the smartgo and infinity readers. I think we need a 5mhz crystal which is not afftected by software.
If the reader supports it shouldn't you just be able to set the mhz option in the config line e.g. oscam config?
Sorry still not answering your questions. but I'd say there wouldn't be anything else to it other than switching the crystal. It's not a huge change so I guess the supporting components wouldn't need to be changed. There are other multi-crystal readers out there:
