Does anyone out there know any details of the deals between TVNZ/Canwest and Sky regarding their program guides?

I am seriously considering getting MySKy so I can timeshift any programs I want to see. At the moment, there are several series on TV1, 2, and 3 that I regularly watch live or tape to VHS and watch later.

Will the TVNZ/Canwest program guides (and content of course) still be available on MySky once Freeview goes to air? If not then I will still need my VCR (or DVD/HDD recorder) to record TV1-3, so MySKy won't be nearly as useful to me.

There is an agreement between TVNZ and Canwest to have 1,2,3 and C4 on Sky that is not due to expire for several years. There has been no word yet as to whether Sky will carry any additional Freeview channels with both companies basically saying it's a decision that will need to be made by the other.

If you only want to timeshift the Freeview chanels, then you can purchase DTV-S timeshift/PVRs from Topflied from memory. You get the advantage of actually owning the box, installing iy yourself for free, and not paying a montly rental for channels you probably don't need. Ive never seen one myself, but they look really good, from memory you can transfer the recorded programs to your PC for loading onto a PSP, IPod etc.

I checked out the topfield pvrs at the australian website and also http://www.topfield-newzealand.co.nz/

I never knew you could even get a PVR with digital tuner until now. They look quite expensive at $1299, although they do have 120 GB hd. At the moment I only record free to air programs because I don't have sky yet. But I would like to get Sky for the rugby at least, also there is lots of cool stuff on discovery etc.

So if I got a topfield PVR I might still end up getting sky in the future, so MySky seems like a good solution with only one box to fit in the entertainment unit. But this would not be so good if Sky drops the free channels in the future.

What are the outputs on the sky digital boxes? I was just wondering how to connect sky to a topfield PVR. It looks like the topfield PVR only has coaxial inputs, no component, composite, s-video or other.
