I am really hoping that this channel will be in widescreen. All music vids these days are shot in widescreen and I believe that MTV in other countries is broadcast in widescreen. Since this is 'real' MTV (i.e. run by Viacom and not some NZ licensee) then there's a good chance it will be... anyone know for sure?

The most interesting issue will be what holds for the future of C4 which relies heavily on MTV programming. There are obviously contracts in place for programs that have some time to run but you would assume that it would be unlikely that these would be extended.

Don't forget that state television started their own micky mouse MTV channel back in 1997 when TV4 had a lot of MTV content. That lead to the farcical situation where several MTV programs (Beavis and Butthead being one example which springs to mind) were shown on both TV4 and TVNZ.

I wish they would bring that Aussie 'V' music channel back, that rocked. Juice TV which more or less replaced it sucks, V was way more outrageous, remember they had a boxing competition on it once, without many clothes from memory.

I'm a bit old to fit into Juice's target market, but I really do like J2 for its huge variety of music.
