Hi
How can I attach a VHS analogue Video recorder to my computer in order to copy the tape to the PC?
My computer is a Dimension 9150.
The Specs are:
Dimension 9150 P4 630 (3.0GHz, 800FSB, 2X1MB Cache)~Dimension 9150 P4 630 (3.0GHz, 800FSB, 2MB Cache)
1 gig of ram
ATI Radeon X600 256MB HyperMemory~ATI Radeon X600 256MB HyperMemory
Legacy Video Capture device
IEEE 1394 PCI Adapter card~IEEE 1394 PCI Adapter card.
I have windows movie maker.
How do I know if I have Firewire?

if you have a video input, simply connect the VHS to it and press play on the VHS and record on your software.

You will/may need a connecting cable... (maybe you have 1 x rca video in, and 1 x 3.5mm audio in? you would need 2xRCA to 3.5mm for audio, and 1xRCA to 1xRCA for the video...)

The IEEE 1394 is the Firewire card for your computer.
Its the best way to move video.
But prob unlikely your vhs recorder will have a firewire port to transfer.
Most probably the RCA cables are what you will use for this

I'm currently using a D-Link DUB-T210 which provides an MPeg stream. I use this for TV on the laptop mostly, but you can input any 75 ohm feed.
