hi guys,

i've got a MCE remote like the one pictured.  Note the four colour buttons, the power button at the top left for the tv (the top right is for the computer).  I'm wanting to buy a couple more of these remotes.  they are the best MCE remotes i have ever come across and are hard to find these days.  the color buttons are useful for mediaportal, the tv on/off and the ability to learn my tvs volume up/down buttons means i only need this one remote.  ive seen a couple some very similar remotes without learning and the tv power, and some with learning and tv power but no colour buttons.  anyone know where i can get this exact model from?

TIA

Microsoft don't make those remotes anymore and haven't for quite a while now so you'll be hard pressed to find them new now.
You may find 2nd hand ones on ebay etc.

have you tried a harmony? they do exactly the same thing, and so much more also. i use the harmony on my main MCE box, and the remote like above on the xbox.

i have the harmony 525, but the harmony 300 can also fully emulate an MCE remote and is cheap at $40 or so. check this forum post: http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/input-output-interfaces-337/logitech-harmony-300-300i-81330/

every now and then i've seen the harmony 525 on a one day site for like $50 too... so keep your eyes out

cheers for those. never been a huge fan of the harmony remotes, the buttons never felt right, very plastic/clicky. i prefer the rubber buttons, i know its a stupid thing, but something that has always bothered me. ive had a harmony one remote in the past, which i used for about a year. basically im just after those mce remotes, for a couple of pvrs. if i went the harmony route i would still need to buy a mce remote for the IR sensor.

i know microsoft are no longer making them, was wondering if anyone knew of a online store still selling them, ebay mostly has the other versions of that remote.

Slightly OT, but it's ben interesting over the years to see MS discontinue many of their items of hardware that are fantastic. I've got this MCE remote as well and love it, and can't help but compare it to their force feedback joysticks and steering wheel which were both awesome and suffered the same fate.

yeah the MCE one does feel nice in the hand. for me though it got relegated to the xbox extender cause it wouldnt also control the tv and amp with macros.

btw, the harmony will do both MCE remote and XBOX remote emulation, so you can use it for both devices in the same room too...
