Sharp Introduces NZ’s Largest LCD Television
Sharp Corporation announces the pending release of New Zealand’s largest LCD domestic television.
The Quattron 70 inch LCD television will be available to Kiwis on December 3rd — just in time for Christmas.
It seems appropriate that Sharp — always the innovators — should release this product on the eve of their 100th anniversary, which they celebrate next year. They were, in fact, the first to introduce LCD screens with their calculators in 1973.
Sharp Managing Director, Jan Nicol says, “We are proud to introduce the first consumer 70 inch LCD television to the NZ market. It reinforces a growing trend in the industry towards larger screens… this panel offers the ultimate viewing experience in home entertainment.”
Kiwis will soon be able to experience Quattron Quad-Pixel technology — a first within the industry.
Quattron adds a fourth sub-pixel (yellow) to the conventional mix of red, green and blue, producing breath-taking results. Viewers experience:
• never before seen colours
• a wider gamut and brighter picture, requiring less power
• over eight million sub-pixels (standard is six million)
• greater power and energy efficiency.
“Sharp released the first 65 inch LCD television to the NZ market in 2007. The arrival of this panel confirms that we remain at the cutting edge of large screen LCD technology,” says Nicol.
