In the lounge we have: Sony KDL-46EX500, PS3, WDTV Live, Asus eeepc netbook.. atm we manually hook up the device to some old Logitech 5.1 PC speakers.
So I hit the boxing day sales today to scope out getting a receiver and some better speakers for the lounge.
I want to spend <$1500 so the budget only really allows for entry level components on the audiophile scale. I am fine with 5.1 rather than 7.1 etc. The primary usage will be: Movies/TV, Rock Band 3 and general music during party/bbq times.
At Noel Leeming, the sales guy reckoned he could do this Pioneer/Wharfedale Crystal combo for ~$1099.
Receiver: Pioneer VSX-520 or VSX-521 (TBC)
Fronts/Floorsanding: Wharfedale CR-30.4 x2
Rear/Bookshelf: Wharfedale CR-30.1 x2
Centre: Wharfedale CR-30C
Sub: Wharfedale SW100
Seems like decent bang for buck to me but I'm wondering is there a better option for this budget?
I also saw jbhifi has the end of line (2010/2011 model) Pioneer receivers really cheap during the boxing day sales, eg: $259 for VSX-520VK and VSX-820HK for $460.
Hit me with some better options for the budget, go team...
