Hiya

I bought a P50X30 plasma TV in the boxing day sales to replace an old LG LCD TV. I have had no problem with the HDMI feed from MySky HDi on the old TV and I've simply pulled the HDMI cable from it and plugged it into the new TV. The picture and sound is fine from every channel but TV1 & 2. I have tge HDMI sound output option on Sky set to dolby (I get no sound from any channel if I set it to MPEG/PCM) but I changed my language preference from English to English Alt so TV3 has sound. I tried changing my HDMI cable but that made no difference.

Any ideas?

Do you get audio if you switch back to English?

It could be that this is selecting the Audio Description service audio feed on TV1 and TV2, I'm not sure if this plays audio on shows that don't use the Audio Description service.

Thanks - I've tried both settings. Setting preferred language to English gives me sound on every channel but TV1-3. English Alt gives me sound on every channel but TV1&2.

There is a firmware update available, make sure you've got the latest firmware installed.

Does the sound work ok from the internal HD tuner?

Cheers - I connected up the tv to the internet and it tells me I have the latest firmware installed. As for sound from the internal tuner - actually, I'm not sure if the sound works ok from the freeview tuner as I haven't got an aerial feed and the tv couldn't find any channels without it. I'll see what I can do for an aerial and check that - thanks!

Is it possible that TV1 and TV2 use a different audio sample rate that the TV doesn't support? Can you set the Sky box to resample the digital audio?

Have you contacted Sky to ask them for help? I can assume there is some sort of common setting that is wrong, so they're bound to get asked this frequently.

You might also want to search the forums here, a quick search indicated a number of other threads discussing this very same issue, all of which might help you.

Thanks - yeah, I tried Sky but they are stumped so they are sending a tech out. Problem is, they will charge me if it turns out to be a TV issue, rather than a Sky one, which is part of the reason I wanted to see if anyone here had any ideas. There must be a buttload of these tvs out there and I can't be the only one using the HDMI feed from MySky?

I haven't been able to set up an aerial for freeview. Can I use the sky aerial if I convert the pin to RGB (I have a converter)? The house doesn't have a rooftop aerial and I don't have bunny ears.

Also, I've tried googling this and other forums for similar issues and that's how I found the English Alt fix for TV3. However, perhaps my keywords are a bit off?

What Sky aerial is there if the house doesn't have a rooftop aerial? If you mean the Sky dish then no.

Sky techie came around this morning and found it was the Sky HDi box that was faulty so I've upgraded to the new Sky+ box!
