Ok, I'm really stuck and stumped here, I've tried everything I could possibly think of and Google hasn't been any help either.
I can't get my gear to work 1080p, only 1080i. Here are the details / links to the official sites.

SC-BTT775GNK Full HD 3D Blu-ray Disc Home Theatre System with iPod Dock, 5.1ch, 1000W

Series 6 46inch (UA46D6003)

Astrotek HDMI 1.3 version HDMI cable with 180 degree adjustable, HDMI 19-pin male to HDMI 19-pin male

When I set it to 1080p in the players advanced settings, it black screens then resets after 15s, same if I set it to automatic.
-720p works and also 1080i.
I'm using the ARC plug on the LED and the ARC plug on the Player so I can get TV through the surrounds btw

I've played with many a setting and done everything, 1080i looks fine but the gear is 1080p so it's really bugging me.
Anyone had this problem, got any advice for me? Help!

Thanks

Okay - obvious question, but what is the exact source material you're sending to your TV?

That is with nothing in the player, just with its options screen up, you know the 9 squares (3 x 3)
catch my drift?

We've got the 40 inch version of that tv in the bedroom with a panny BR player. Just had a play and ours is def. displaying at 1080p. Have you tried putting a BR disc in to see if it display that at 1080p being that it is definitely a 1080p source?

I agree with Dunnersfella and Louismustdie.

Are you actually playing a Blu-ray? You need to be. The Menu system is probably only designed in 1080i, as soon as you play a 1080P Blu-ray, it'll switch up to 1080P

ARC is an HDMI 1.4 feature - are you sure both devices are HDMI 1.4? The receiver should be, given that it's 3D compatible, I'd say the TV _probably_ is given that it's an extremely recent model.

It took a lot of mucking around to find out what version mine was, I wish manufacturers would put this sort of info in the manuals.

Other than that I'd say try playing an actual BR.

And if that is the case and you are using a 1.3 HDMI cable maybe a new cable?

The ARC part of the 1.4 spec will work with a 1.3 cable, the only difference in the actual v1.4 cable is the support for Ethernet-over-HDMI.

Not all BD titles are encoded in 1080p. You could probably leave it on automatic.

They would be unwise to display the menu in 1080p. TVs didn't support 1080p until a few years ago so if there is a mistake in the HDMI chain that tells the BD player the TV supported 1080p when it didn't then the screen would go blank. The player should have a menu option to force 1080i or 720p, even if 1080p is detected as being available.

Some BD players particularly those from Samsung and LG will always force 1080p when "available", which is a bane to people whose televisions don't support 1080p but whose HDMI setup tells the player otherwise.

There should be instructions in the manual on how to make the remote work with a Samsung TV.

It's likely the BD player needs a remote code to be region-freed for DVDs. Update the firmware first and either follow the links
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=34&topicid=95100#563665
or it should be possible to take it to an authorised service centre with a receipt.

When I set it to 1080p in the players advanced settings, it black screens then resets after 15s, same if I set it to automatic.

Sorry I missed this. Make sure cinemadrive/cinemotion is enabled in the TV.

Your GUI is 1080 interlaced - not 1080 progressive.
No issue. You didn't buy your new home theatre to look at its GUI... or did you?
As long as it plays a 1080p movie in 1080p, then life is good.

I tried the Avatar BR with still no luck.
Upgrading the firmware on both the LED and the Player was something I did before posting.
I set it in 24p and then tried 1080p and automatic but it still comes resets to 1080i after failing, while it's doing this it flickers from black, to black with colorful static with black lines-((split second) (this also happened without 24p set)) I can see it's trying.

It's just so strange.
I'll just stick with 1080i and 24p until I go hit the store up for selling me the bundle.
....Samsung and Panasonic did this on purpose? Why can't they all just get along! lol

See if you can lay your hands on a PS3 or other BR player and see what happens. The TV should have no problem whatsoever with 1080p, so I'd suggest either a faulty or misconfigured player.

Ilimination and isolation is the key to tracking down faults.

What you have should work fine, when you set player output setting the display devices can go black whilst resyncing.

To me it sounds like a communication problem.

First thing I would try,
change the cable,
If you can, test player and/or cable setup on another TV.
Try a different HDMI port on the TV, you never know.
Sometimes setting the player to Auto will force communications.

Me "That sounds like a program with no freewill?"

ET: "We will catch up when you end this cycle"

Me: "Sounds like a 'KPI'!"

ET: "Did you read the terms and conditions?"
