Hi, needing a bit of help please. Sky decoder is a small silver unit, tv is a Samsung plasma (PS42C450B1M) replacing a CRT. I can get picture, but no sound.
Here's a the setup. Scart cable that goes to a bunch of component, composite and audio L/R leads, all labelled, going into the correct RCA in the back of the telly. I've tried both component 1 and 2 and composite. I've set up the Sky box's scart to component and the picture comes through fine. Previous setup was a blue Sky scart cable that went to audio L/R + S-video (and then into another adapter to scart for the old tv). I still have this setup on the VCR out from Sky box and into the old CRT and it works fine. TV out from Sky is to the plasma. I've checked and double checked everything, gone through all the settings on box sky and tv several times and even rtfm. I can get sound out of the TV when I play the media player on hdmi, the cable which used to connect the media player is the one now going from sky to tv, so that should work fine.
The only things I can think of:
a) the cable that is currently Sky scart to tv rca used to be media player rca to tv scart. Does scart have any weird single direction thing going on? I just ask because I'm looking at the old adapter we were using (s-vid/audio to scart) which has an in/out switch on it. Even so, the picture comes across just fine with the scart to component cable, I see no reason why the audio shouldn't as well. Note that this adapter is not currently used in the sky to tv set up.
b) Sky scart output possibly doesn't do audio when it's set to component mode, which seems highly unlikely especially since there's no other audio outputs on the decoder.
At this point, I'm at an absolute loss. This should be really bloody simple but it ain't happening! Help me Obi Wan Kenobi :/
