Hi

I am in the market for a second smaller TV that I want to wall mount in our spare room. I want something which has a decent picture and preferably one which is wifi equipped (I want to be able to put on YouTube for the kids and maybe watch a bit of on demand here and there).

The Sony KDL32EX720 is nearly there but it is only wifi ready i.e. you need to buy an adaptor. I think most of the 32 inch models, even the high spec ones, fall in this category.

Does anyone have some words of wisdom for me? I am particularly interested to know when the next generations of TVs are due out as I assume that more of these will be internet ready? Are any make/models particualalry good for internet?

Just get the Sony USB Wireless adaptor. I got one not that badly priced when I got the 32CX520 whilst it was on special few months ago.

Though, if you thinking of expanding the network coverage in the vicinity near the TV, would be better to get a wireless AP Client instead, something like these as they priced just slightly more than the USB Wireless kit.

Some of the 2012 Samsungs will have WiFi.
The KDL32EX720 you mentioned has wired LAN built in, and you can get WiFi with an adaptor.

By the way, when you say "on demand" is that like TVNZ/TV3 On Demand? If so, I think you may want to test/try it out at the shop first... I haven't bothered using that on our TV but somehow, I don't think the experience is that satisfying.

Internet connectivity on the Samsungs is nigh useless beyond the local LAN connection to use with a DLNA server. I've not had a play with the software on the Sony/LG's etc.

The DLNA client works pretty well though, although the UI is a bit painful if you have any more than about a dozen items.

I'd wait for the new season TV's, then try them out in-store to see how everything works for you.
Most current TV's are an exercise in frustration web content wise.
