I realised that I've been registered on Geekzone for a number of years now, but never introduced myself. I did lurk on Geekzone without an account for some years before I actually signed up.

I'm Craig and I have been working in IT almost all my working life (a couple of decades now), in Tech Support and System Administrator roles for GNS Science and it's predecessor (Dunedin, Wellington, Lower Hutt), and the RX Plastics (Ashburton). My background/degree was actually in Geology, but after starting with the 'Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences' in Dunedin my role very quickly involved a heavy IT component, including hands on with ArcGIS as it was implimented. I was also heavily involved with NetWare for quite a few years.

My current role is 'IT Service Engineer' (with a dash of IT Management) with Cowley Services in Lower Hutt - it is great to be up in the Hutt Valley!

My work roles have always been ones of wearing many, many hats and dealing with a wide variety of IT&C across organisations.

I have to say the Geekzone is a fantastic resource and community and I have found it very, very useful over the years.

Hey Mauricio - you use to publish all sorts of site stats (browers used, countries people were connecting from, etc), but I've not noticed any in ages. Do you still publish those interesting tid-bits of information?

BinaryLimited: welcome welcome :)

"did you u turn it off and back on again?"

OMG YES!

User/client: "How can I fix this?"

Me: "Have you tried a reboot?"

User/client: [rolling eyes] "Are you for real, that's what you guys always say?"

Me: "Try it and see"

User/client 5 minutes later: "That worked! Thanks heaps"
