not sure I'm a geek but, I have played with computers since I got my first one a ZX81 Kitset. All that memory WOW, 2kilobytes of it.

Still learning lots, and experimentation for me is the way to go. Currently working with Mandriva Linux 2007 Free DVD version, and trying to get to grips with commandline stuff again.

Also intending to try to get my NOKIA bluetooth headset working online with MSN and Windows and of course Linux.

Love playing with programs, and building and troubleshooting systems. No official qualifications here, but a lot of trial and error stuff for me.

look forward to sharing my meagre knowledge with others online. no matter how little or how much we know there's always something we can share and something to learn.

Tex

Thanks for the welcomes. that ZX81 "Blazed" along with a CPU running at a "Massive" 4.2Mhz. I had a lot of fun with it. then upgraded to a ZX Spectrum with 48k of memory which I hard wired internally using ribbon cable. Finally moved onto a PC with a 286 Running DOS 3.2, First Choice and a few commander keen games. 40Mb Hard drive which my friends reckoned I'd never fill, 2Mb RAM and a Tseng 4000 Video card made for a good entry level computer in those heady early days. I still remember Bill Gates saying 640k of memory is enough for ANY application, Seems he's forgotten that one especially with Vista.

If it walks like a geek, and quacks like a geek...

Its completely possible to be a normal, successful, social, outgoing human being, that is also a geek. In fact that probably describes most of us here :-)
