27 years + experience with computers.

I'm a network engineer and AAC technologist. AAC ? It stands for Augmentative and Alternative Communication.

Simply put  it involves helping people you are unable to speak and/or write by giving them a means to communicate using high or low tech means. Low tech as in the movie "Diving and the Butterfly" and high tech as in eye tracking to access computers and tablets to speak for you.

The disability may be minor to quite severe.  It could be a tremor that makes using a keyboard awkward to completed paralysis except for eye movement.

I also do freelance data recovery for PC and MAC. Everything up until the clean room and suits are needed.  Most recent job was recovering a film producer's complete film edits in a crashed RAID 0 two disk setup on a MAC.  No he did not have a backup!!!!
Can you believe it?

What else ?  Troubleshooting is my forte.  MAC or PC, iPAD or Android?   They are all just operating systems sitting on hardware.

Moving to NZ, in a few months, from Canada hoping to get updated on the Kiwi way I perhaps give my Canadian perspective on things to solve problems.

Cheers,

Mike

Greetings, and welcome to Geekzone!

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

Have been very busy selling apartment in Canada, flying to NZ, driving to Hawkes Bay and finding a place to live - important even for geeks!

Napier - beautiful here. Arrived early April. Still looking for house!
Desktops and servers still sitting in shipper's warehouse.

I look forward to more active participation with geekzone once we are settled.
