Hi guys

I have just signed up and hopefully I get to learn something here.
I live in Wellington and work for Kordia, Field Engineer Radio Division
So far so good as I only arrived in NZ 8 months ago from...... yes, another South African.

Wow, how time flies

A few years on, no longer in Wellington but now based in Auckland and still working for Kordia except now based as the head office and managing a whole bunch of stuff that has wires, and connections and important customers attached to the ends.

Still interesting as ever and still see Kordia as a great company to work for with a great future in store

Time for an update I reckon.

I've been a member on GeekZone since 2007 only manged 3 posts.

I was initially on here only to read the posts and monitor for specific incidents as Geek Zone was a good source for early warnings for network issues that may have been developing. Big thumbs up to the Geek Zone community for their vigilance.😃 Apologies from not introducing myself sooner.

To put the above comment into context, I worked for Kordia for 11.5 years. From 2011 to 2018 my role at Kordia was that of Platform and Asset Manager for Core Linking and IP System.

Part of my portfolio included the distribution of broadcast services from studio to broadcast sites across NZ. As viewers on Geek Zone are usually quick to raise any issues being experienced on Freeview (and the old analogue service at the time), hence the snooping 😬 It was a good early warning system for any potential underlying and/or systemic issue that may not be picked up under the usual mechanisms that could lead to further major issues later on.

I left Kordia this year after a fantastic decade of amazing experiences and having the pleasure of working with some brilliant, smart and very capable people to start up my own business.

A big "wave" to my ex colleague Andrew Wilson if he is snooping and reading this post. Hi Andrew.

So here I am. Planning to be more active as I am now in a position to do so.

Happy to field any questions and will hopefully contribute a lot more as well
