Welcome to Geekzone!

I am PeterReader, the Geekzone Robot. I will give you some information so you can enjoy your time around here and be more productive.

First, everyone follows the Forum Usage Guidelines (FUG). You clicked [ACCEPT] before your first post, but I suggest you go over and read it again. Any questions, ask away.

There are many features around this forum. If you want to get the best out of Geekzone, check our Geekzone Guide.

People around here can be funny. When reading a comment don't take it personally as everyone here knows we should always attack arguments not the people behind them. But if you see some sarcastic jokes, it happens. With time you will see there are lots of people who post around the forums in a variety of topics. Those more frequent posters help us make sure the community is safe.

If you feel you need help, look for freitasm, our BDFL and send him a Private Message (PM) by clicking the email button.

Wow, Wellington to Brisbane - that is a leap!

How do you rate the whole QLD lifestyle?

Love it. Would not live anywhere else. Should have done it years ago. The weather is the biggest plus, can spend time outdoors all year round.

Welcome back aboard.

Its amazing how persepctives differ among people. I was born in Brisbane, lived there for 34yrs before moving to Europe and now here in Auckland. The weather is great, except for November through to early March.

Just checked the weather app on my phone, heading for a top of 36*C today and 88% relative humidity with an extreme heat warning in place through to 10:30pm tonight. No thanks, my body just doses't cope well with those sorts of extremes anymore. On the other hand, tops of 24*C in July are awesome!

Today is hot ๐Ÿ˜…, just went for a walk around the block. But its not like that every day. Looking forward to spending the evening by the pool. I'm one of those that prefers to "cool off", than "keep warm". Wellington we were constantly in "keeping warm" phase apart from Dec, Jan, Feb where the weather can be nice, but good days are far between, and its rearly good enough to swim without freezing your butt off when getting out.

Welcome, will be in Gold Coast for Christmas visiting my parents.

Looking forward to it as Covid ruined 2020 Christmas with them!

What's your internet connection like over there? Do you have fibre?

The little things make the biggest difference.

Not fibre yet, currently on FTTN and waiting for my neighborhood. Its a massive project. Saying that, family is not moaning and its seems more than enough for 2 kids, and 2 of us working from home.

Cheers guys. And thanks for all the well wishes.

At least I'm not far from NZ and we still have access to Geekzone

I'm the opposite. Would much rather have to warm up than cool down and like living in Wellington because it doesn't have huge extremes in either direction - although having said that I'm in Christchurch for surgery at present and it has been a real mixture of temperatures from day to day.
