Hi everyone,
My name is Mike, 27 years old, from Auckland. I have been a long time reader of the geekzone forums, but only recently got around to creating an account on the site. I just purchased an iPhone 3G S and found the discussions that went on last week very interesting :)
I studied at the University of Auckland, where I completed a BCom/BSc (Information Systems and Computer Science) conjoint degree. I now work fulltime as a Software Architect (.Net) for a large Software Development firm in Auckland City (having been at the same company since I graduated 5 years ago).
I also work outside my day job for the website in my signature, MarketPrice, of which I am a co-owner. We are a trading platform for event tickets, where people can buy and sell tickets to events from each other - the motivation for setting this up was as a keen concert goer myself, I saw the inefficiencies in how the ticket trading market works, whereby lots of fans miss out as the tickets get snapped up, and invariably end up in the hands of people trying to ransom the tickets off to the highest buyer, my site hopes to address this.
Outside of work my main hobby is traveling - I generally at least one big trip a year, and it is generally the highlight of my year :) In the last 5 years since I finished my studies I have done trips to the US, Australia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, South Korea, China, the UK, France, Spain, Italy and Germany. I also train in Muay Thai kickboxing, and spent 5 weeks in Thailand this year training fulltime. I also love playing and watching other sports - particularly basketball and football. I support the Cleveland Cavaliers and Chelsea resectively.
Anyway, nice to meet you all, I look forward to seeing you on the forums soon! And I hopefully will make it along to the next Geekzone event that takes place in Auckland. Cheers to Mauricio for maintaining an awesome site!
