Hi, my name is Amanda, and I currently work at a financial company in Tauranga, well until the end of April. Although not officially working for the IT department at work, I spent a lot of time there and have had the chance to realise my dream of being a sysadmin (or similar career path).

I start a Level 5 Computing course in June/July, and look forward to soaking up the knowledge where ever I can get it. I'm currently studying for my MSCE, and I have a strong interest in VoIP and virtualisation (such as VMWare), but I'm generally intrigued by all that is electronic.

I'm often referred to as a geek due to my overwhelming enthusiasm in IT and my slightly eccentric tastes in music, movies and most other aspects of my life (huge Hitchhikers fan), but I'll let others make that judgement.

Good evening, welcome to Geekzone!
Id say by the sound of things, that yes, you are in fact a Geek (capital G Cool)

Nice to see more members from the regions... (Not that we hold anything against those Acklanders...)

Thanks guys :)

Nice to be in a place that takes pride in being a Geek! Most people are horrified that a female (especially of my age) doesn't take offence to the term.
