I was a Microsoft centric systems engineer many moons ago. I know times have changed quite a bit since I was "on the tools", so thought I'd get input from you guys.
My wife has a Surface Pro 3, which she purchased about a year ago. Some months ago, she asked me to look at it and apparently I mentioned something long the lines that the HDD didn't seem happy and we should look into this further. As she was in the middle of doing some papers for Uni and the device seemed to be holding together, nothing more was done.
She has just reminded me of this conversation and has asked me to look into it this issue further, this weekend, before she starts Uni again.
What are some recommended tools (preferably Freeware) that I should be using to successfully scan/interrogate the HDD on a Surface Pro 3? Is there a self scanning tool either in BIOS or Windows 8 I should be using?
