A friend has a sony vaio laptop, only about 6 months old, pretty top of the line. Just recently it has started playing up whenever she uses internet explorer. For no reason the browser window fiicks back a page. She might be in the middle of typing something and this happens or she might be reading something and it happens.

Any suggestions as to what it could be? I think it sounds more software related...but im not a computer expert lol.

It definitely sounds like a software issue.

Make sure she has the latest anti-virus definitions and does a scan with Spybot to ensure the system is clean from viruses / dodgy monitoring software.

Failing that put everything she wants (documents, photos, music, boomarks, email address book, etc) on some sort of other storage (DVD, CD, flash drive) and "recover" the notebook to factory condition.

Is she using an external mouse? Some mice have a dedicated back button on them and if the button is faulty or she is accidentally pressing it then it could cause this sort of behaviour.
