Hey guys,

I bought a mid 2012 MacBook Pro off TradeMe about a week ago. I bought it with full knowledge that the screen wasn't working, under the belief that it's just a screen issue.

• MacBook Pro arrived, worked fine (only used briefly) connected to my monitor.
• Booted up to OSX utilities, wiped the drive and then installed El Capitan successfully
• Next morning, everything works fine, download Sierra, begin installing Sierra, then after a while there's a white screen
• After a while I turn off the computer as its unresponsive
• Turn it on again and I'm greeted by 2 beeps (different tones)
• Did some googling and found it's an incompatible RAM problem
• Reseat the RAM - no luck
• Try various arrangements of RAM - no luck
• Call Applecare, go through all the trouble shooting steps with no luck
• It now has the two beeps followed by the apple startup noise, this will keep repeating every 10 seconds or so until I shutdown the computer
• Applecare suggests it is most likely something to do with the RAM, and suggest I take it to an authorised repairer.

Any suggestions? I think my next step is to buy some other RAM modules and see if that makes a difference. Could it be a greater problem? I don't actually know what caused the screen to stop working in the first place, there is a dent though.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you tried the basic NVRAM reset? From off, press & hold Power then hold Command + Option + P + R until it reboots twice.

Next is SMC reset - press & hold Shift + Control + Option + Power until the light on the Magsafe connector blinks. Now release all keys at the same time.

If you're still suffering after this, Sergio is your man. He'll fix it fast & good, really reasonable prices too. 021 204 5763
