hey Geeks

I have an Acer Extensa 2300 with a new Li-ion replacemenet battery. My problem is that it does not seem to charge. The battery shows up in the power meter but it does not say it is charging.

Ive gotten the battery charging a couple of times, randomly when i turn the PC on it will start charging the battery....

Anyone got any suggestions..

Cheers

How old's the battery?  It may be time for a new one.

As the OP said its a new li-on battery. With some laptops we have, removing the battery while its on seems to cure this (with toshiba laptops however). In windows, remove said battery with the ac adapter in obviously, and replace it. If this dosnt work there could be a battery cycling option in the bios which can help with these problems as well.

Ok.... once the laptop is loaded and the battery is removed / replaced it will charge.however the PC will not charge the Batt automatically. I have checked the bios but there isnt anything that relates to batt management.

Any ideas on how to make it charge automatically

I had problems charging a HP Mini Note other day and found that on some HP models you can reset the charging circuit by unpluging, removing the battery and then holding the power button for ten to fifteen seconds. Then insert the battery again - and it worked for me.

Note this was an HP machine...
