What would be the best recommendation for a cost effective tablet that will only be used for customers to enter their details onto a web form for the purpose of entering a competition?

My only other requirement is that it’s reasonably responsive when entering details into the form.

Why is doing something as simple as reading a text message an ongoing ordeal with my Android phone?

Clearly it is a fault or user error

SMS can be read still on handsets manufactured in 1996

Old laptop? A keyboard may be easier for customers than poking at a tablet screen.

Please make sure the equipment is cleaned regularly. Grimy looking keyboards are very off putting.

You can use a table and some Android versions have an option to "lock" it so only one app is available.
