It's been happening for quite a while now (I think it's only been happening since Firefox 3 came out) - where after a while browsing the web (maybe an hour) all webpages would stop loading.. It doesn't come up with an error, just keeps trying to load the page (it doesn't happen on any webpage in particular). So I would open Internet Explorer and sometimes pages would load normally for another few minutes, other times it won't load anything at all. To fix this, I would have to restart. Checking my E-Mail's using Windows Live Mail and using Windows Live Messenger still work fine.
[I'll check the make/model of my laptop soon] - I have AVAST! and ZoneAlarm Pro on it, both going at the same time (but I think I have the ZoneAlarm antivirus disabled ]as AVAST! told me that both antivirus's working would cause conflicts - so i disabled ZoneAlarm antivirus [but not firewall] as i knew AVAST! is better in that department])
After a bit of research I found that there's quite alot of issues in having ZoneAlarm and Avast working together? I don't really want to change as I've paid for a year's subscription of ZoneAlarm. I'll work on it today with AVAST! disabled and see if it changes anything.
The reason why I have both going is that AVAST! has a constant webscanner and tells me if I'm downloading a file that has a virus - and I can abort the download immediately. ZoneAlarm because it's the best firewall (as i'm a bit of a security-conscious person).
Quick questions:
- Would I be 'safe' with just AVAST! and disable ZoneAlarm. Or just have ZoneAlarm going and leave AVAST! until I need to do a virus scan?
- Would it have anything to do with hardware (i.e. wireless network adapters - I've updated the drivers for them via. Device Manager)
I'll have a go today with AVAST! disabled [I won't download any files] and see how it goes.
Long post I know (sorry!)
