I'm about to do a bit of travelling and thought I'd load PC Phonehome  http://www.brigadoonsoftware.com/pcphonehome.html as a bit of added security.

Loaded the 30 day trial with the intention of registering if it seemed to work. It's suposed to email you the IP address your computer has logged onto the internet through so it can be traced if stolen.

Only meant to get one email a day or another when the IP address changes. I'm getting 6 emails at least each day all same IP address (haven't left home yet). Also spam asking me to purchase for all my "corporate" machines.

For the past week I've been emailing the help desk plus copy to the general email address (I don't need all these repeat messages). I've not had a single response.

Does anyone know if this is a genuine product or just a scam?

Just a bit of a worry if this is a scam as it is "invisible" on the computer so I don't know if an uninstall will really remove it.

Any ideas?
