I'm thinking of getting an Acer TravelMate 4152LMi - what experiences have people had from this brand/model?
Thanks for your feedback =D

Well all of the Dell laptops I have seen in catalouges seem overpriced. The acer i'm looking at:
Intel Centrino mobile technology
Intel Pentium M Processor 740 (1.73GHz, 2MB cache, 533MHz FSB)
512 MB PC4200 DDR2-SDRAM
80 GB EIDE hard drive
DVD+/-RW Dual Layer drive (Read and burn CDs and DVDs)
15" Active colour screen with XGA Resolution (1024 x 768)
Microsoft Windows XP Home
Long life Lithium Ion battery up to 5 hours life
Intel integrated graphics with up to 128MB VRAM
Integrated audio, twin speakers
10/100 LAN & 802.11b/g Wi-Fi LAN
Built-in full size keyboard with four easy-launch buttons
Built-in touchpad pointing device
Fast Infra-red, FireWire, S-Video ports
Four USB 2.0 ports

For about $1800 incl GST - XP pro for an extra $120

What do you think?

you can get HP's for similar price to that. i'll get the spec but it's the Digital Entertainment z series. stylish look too. my partner has the value version and priced at $1599, the more grunty version is around $1899 or around.

I have an Acer laptop. Its a forgettable experience. I would dump it for any other other brand.

Its not bad, its just not as good as other Dells, HPs, IBMs, NECs that i have used.

HP Compaq Presario B1800 series or V4000 series looks fine, it's time to get WXGA (1280x800) rather than XGA (1024x768), you gain so much more space.

i got this acer aspire a couple months ago, about 1300 from most major retailers, i added a couple mods, soundcard, hdd, ram.. all in all about 2000, i havent had any probs what so ever bar a couple viruses that wouldnt go away, which was easily fixed via the built in cdrive recovery, i noticed in last months pc mag there was an excellent acer that topped all but 1 other in performance... However this is the only acer i have owned so maybe i am just lucky so far.
