Hi guys,

Recently been interested in Fujitsu Lifebooks as their prices seem to be fair and they have come out with pretty mobile yet powerful i5 and i7 processors.

What is the build quality like on these Lifebooks?  And also, after sales support and warranty?

Thanks in advance.

Nice Gear - but service not so good, no onsite warranty, and only service centre is in Wellington

Hi Camo,

What model did you have?

Not to fussed about the lack of on-site warranty repairs but it's concerning the only service centre is in Wellington!

I supplied several 13.3" models about 3 years ago,

Sorry model numbers long since lost to memory,

After 1 broke, and I had to send to Wellington for warranty repairs, (7 days without laptop)  I decided they were not so good for business customers

Just researched online and the service centre is now only in Auckland.

Have been using Fujitsu P-series machines for the last 10years because their size and specs suit the way I work. Never had a technical issue and would upgrade to another tomorrow if I was in the market. Prefer over Acer, HP, IBM, Tosh, and Acer products I have had to use durring that time.

Thanks for the feedback oxnsox.  How have you found the support in terms of driver updates?

Hi. Have run P- series touchscreens over a couple of years, both purchased secondhand. Seem to be quite solid reliable hardware, my last one died of old age at five years old, broken screen wire and failed Rtc battery, followed by corrupted harddrive. Driver upgrades were excellent, was able to download latest Bluetooth stacks etc from the Asia pacific site which were for the newer models etc and all worked well. Was able to source ram upgrade thru one of the official local service centre which was in Palmerston north.
Overall have good things to say about fujitsu.

Answer to HW
I just regularly check for any driver updates. I brought the first when I was working overseas, when it was stolen I replaced it. Couple of years ago got a 7230 whilst transiting HongKong mainly because it had a Duo processor and a built in 3G Modem. It's running Vista, which I'm not fond of. So plan to load it with Win7....

Have not needed or used local support.

Good to hear, so far it sounds very promising.

The major downside of going with Fujitsu would now be the ease of getting extended / extra batteries and other accessories.
