Hi, I'm having a look at the offerings by Skinny and i really don't need the frills what Spark has to offer but I'm wondering about speed - is there any difference between going with Spark or Skinny or is going with Skinny a situation of 'here is the internet without the frills' but apart from that everything else is the same? Just to also double check, I assume that Skinny doesn't rely on VLAN tagging?

No difference. It was BigPipe's network who have now gone over to the main Spark network.

You get a public IP etc but can't get a static IP.

IIRC no VLAN, PPPoE.

Sounds like a plan stan - I'll head off to skinny; the choice now is keep the savings or amp up the speed from 100mbps.
