doozy:
DravidDavid: This is very strange.

It appears that my international cap comes and goes. I can download demos from ausgamers at 990KB/s one minute...If I cancel and start again, I'm back to 75-100KB/s.

Ventrilo actually worked last night aswell. I was amazed.

There was some traffic moved around last night in an attempt to alleviate pressure on latency sensitive apps, good to know that its starting to work

Hey doozy

I can live stream once again (of course high quality stuff is still pretty bad), streaming in general seems to have improved. Also downloads are no longer crippled down to 10 kB/s, but instead hover anywhere from 30 - 200 kB/s. So I don't know what you guys have done, but it is an improvement for me at least.

Nice work. Well I just thought I would give you some feedback amidst all the hate in this thread.

Your expectations are more than reasonable, clearly. But, the issues you have do not appear to be Big Time nor an issue for everyone else on the DSL network. But obviosuly there is something amiss relating to your connection. Either in your home, or on our network relating to your specific connection.

I am at home, supposedly painting but also playing with my new bike, so please feel free to PM me your broadband phone number and I will look into it tomorrow

Cheers
Tony

Is anyone else having issues connecting to websites / trackers / other services on irregular ports?

Or with high ports seemingly being blocked? (I have a couple of high [10000+] ports forwarded on my router along with lower ones [such as 80], and while the lower ones report correctly and work fine, the higher ones can't be connected to.)

I tested the download speed of the Ubuntu 10.04 RC from the citylink FTP server in preparation for getting the official release this evening and noticed that it's capped to 100kB/s for a single thread (I don't use a download manager/accelerator).
Is that because it's not peered here in wgtn?

I guess I'll jump on the torrent when its released and dl/seed it to NZ peers.

Which one? the FTP or the torrent?

The FTP for the RC link is: http://ftp.citylink.co.nz/ubuntu-releases/lucid/ubuntu-10.04-rc-desktop-i386.iso

I can't seem to load it at the moment though - it's currently timing out :/ ADD: working now

As the official release hasn't occured yet the .torrent for it doesn't exist.

With all this talk about Big Time, how is the access to Geekzone (we're hosted in Auckland)?

Aside from a 502 error this morning I have no load problems with Geekzone; but I don't download anything from here, so I have no problems browsing the site :)

Oh of course GZ is at the top of the priority list!

(which largely consists of whatever I think is cool from day to day)
