I just did a speedtest and I got my line speed up and down (7.20mb/s // 0.78mb/s)

Where are you located? That is a very poor performance from your connection. You should try on and off peak to see if anything changes. Was that happening to you before?

I am located in Belmont/Takapuna, North Shore. Speeds seem to be a LITTLE better now, I was just able to stream a YT video, albeit JUST fast enough to play in realtime without buffering. I NEVER have these problems with the capped Xtra plans (dropped connections yes, slow connection, no), ONLY BT. Nothing changes but the plan and then BAM, slows to a crawl. It is very odd. I wish I was one of the lucky ones with a good BT connection. =(

There is a speed your router syncronises at to Telecom.

I syncronize at 8128Kbps Down and 832Kbps Up. It should be in your router statistics.

I remember when I was getting bad download speeds with BigTime a few months ago, I checked that and it went between being normal and very low. See if it fluxuates. If you are syncronizing at poor speeds you could probably get Telecom to look in to it.

Post the adsl stats from your modem/routes admin ui

Also check the dns servers are set to obtain automatically or to Telecom's servers in both the modem/router and on the PC's getting the slow speed.

Your stats probably won't fluxuate like that. Sorry (kinda typed it in a rush).

They will fluxuate from day to day. Post your ADSL stats like Ragnor said. Line attenuation, sync speed, ADSL Mode and all that stuff comes in to it.

So as we know some people aren't affected by any of this shaping i think myself is one of them, As never had any problems to what people have stated, my modem always syncs at the highest i can get. Only problem i had was when everyone had gaming issues seems this was fixed pretty fast for me.

Now as some people use P2P/Bit-Torrenting for legal scenes i don't see how those people should get effected. now i know you cant shape participially files but i guess bit torrenting should be the main priority.

I think they should of trailed this plan before releasing it ( If they didn't already ) Because for a thread to get this long seems a bit stupid if they cant fix the problems that are still around but it takes time!

Everyone that is on this plan must pull over 40gbs otherwise they would be off this plan if i am not correct? Or does the need not to have to worry about a data cap that makes this plan sound promising.

Just my 2Cents

Plus its not hard to pull over 300gbs really if people wanted to

What's your line rate / adsl sync speed?

Q1: What speed do you get downloading this file (below) using a single connection/segment standard web browser download?

Q2: What speed do you get downloading it using a download manager that does multiple segments?

My sync speed here at home is ~4Mbit (~500 KB/s) and I get ~20 KB/s for Q1 and 160-200 KB/s for Q2

Flash as I understand it, switching to big time shouldn't effect sync rates at all. The capping and shaping of speeds doesn't occur at that level.

I get 140KB/s for question one. But with IDM I get 801KB/s with 7 threads.

The second time I tried I only got 80KB/s single thread and 570KB/s with 7 threads in IDM.

Asylum. That is why we want him to show us. If it is lower than normal (way lower that is) he should contact Telecom.

Q1. i Got 80kbs using google Chrome ( Which i must admit i normally get higher )

Q2. Started off slow around 90kbs but as the download went on it went above 210kbs but it finished before it could get any higher. Not sure how many threads i was using tho ( Don't know where to look under Orbit Heh! )

Sync speeds are Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 768 / 8.128

Thats no very good your stats should also include attenuation, noise margin and mode. Is that all you got from your router or did you just provide a summary. Since you only have 2M down it explains your speedtest results
