This almost feels like a throw-back to the days where Telecom had the monopoly on the lines, we'll give you what we want to give you when we are good and ready........
1 Samsung device seems very hap hazard to me. Surely with all of Sparks technological know how, this could have been launched better, especially when there are competitors out there already offering a far more complete solution.
Granted, this is a free add-on for customers, so I understand it may be low priority to rollout, but when it lags behind what else is available in the market place, it looks a little weak
It's also opt-in, right? As in a customer would need to manually enable WiFi Calling on their phone. So, all the older devices that have been tested by other networks should be fine, right? I'm not talking about testing and rolling out firmware to Spark phones, but using devices from other carriers that already are supported on other networks, e.g. my A50 is not from Spark and is a supported phone on VNZ.

Hi there - not sure I entirely follow the question, however from a service perspective everyone will have access to the service from a network perspective - no opt in is required. Device support is something seperate that has to be rolled out across the devices on our network. We work closely with the various manufacturers to make this happen as quickly and efficiently as possible and whilst this might be frustrating for some customers, we are working hard at getting this done ASAP.
I hope that makes sense.
My comments and remarks are not necessarily of my employer.
Spark is or appears to be lagging behind (I am a Spark customer) I am generally pleased with the service I receive from Spark but this is an area they are lagging especially for Apple user(note I don't know if this is due to Apple or Spark) Another area Spark is way behind the other two players is 5G. Spark need to pick up the pace is innovation. Also I want my shares to go up so come on Spark hustle hustle.

More a question of website design. It could be read as Samsung - Android 12 or later OR Samsung A33 5G.
Add to that a lot of people talking about other Samsung phones and......
Apologies to @gajan. I suspect he is not the person who edits that page.
thanks for the feedback - will see if we can tidy that up a bit better.

I agree. I also understand that the list of supported handsets will "be updated as more devices are added", but Apple/IOS is NOT currently available but still lists as coming October. If the same was added for Samsung/other devices it would avoid a bunch of these questions.

Hi @gajan, if you need any users for testing - I’ll volunteer. I’m on the iOS developer betas and follow the changes quite closely. Appreciate the hard work by Spark to get this up and running.
I find it hard to understand how 2degrees has all these phones supported: https://www.2degrees.nz/help/mobile-help/calling-features/phones-compatible-with-volte-and-wifi-calling
But Spark, a major comms company, is struggling to to provide full functionality on a single Android device. Surely this doesn't need hand-rolled code for each new device on each network?
Interesting, my phone (Samsung S21fe) isn't on the 2Deg list
