Yes Torrents are throttled to buggery.. as I suspect is any other p2p, and large file download sites (rapidshare, megaupload, hotfiles etc etc) that generate large amounts of traffic.

I'm sure Doozy or TDgeek could explain in detail but I'm not sure if they will (might be commercially sensitive and/or information that could be used to try and bypass throttling).

I'd like the plan alot better if they didnt shape as harshly, but hey no-one else is offering an unlimited DSL plan. Until something better comes along those of us who want unlimited downloads at a reasonable price will stay with Big Time.

I'm a bit of a Cypherpunk, who believes information wants to be free and the Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it. Kinda pointless shaping sites like Rapidshare and torrent downloads on Bigtime.
Cause those are the sole reason why us Bandwidth rapers changed to this plan.
I see myself changing back to Adventure real soon.

Does throttling on torrents get taken over over night or they on perm no matter what?
Cause this 10kb/s is plain not acceptable

I have a torrent running at 300kb/s while I type this.

Did you bother reading the details about the plan before you signed up? (or most of the posts in this thread for that matter)

"However, because of this we manage all the traffic on Big Time. When the network is busy (generally inside the hours of 9am and 2am) you may noticed reduced speeds; in particular you are likely to see reduced speeds in relation to file sharing and online gaming."

Just schedule your downloads to start and stop between these hours.

Hey you must be new here, we have been through this countless times, im just as unhappy about it as you are, but the fact is telecom have no obligation to provide any decent quality of service. You are on big time, yes it is slowed the **** down at certain times and on certain sites, yes you can download unlimited traffic, and yes there are ways to get past the throttling (you will have to figure these out yourself)

Stop whining, if you dont like it change plans.

Apology accepted.
Sorry I dont mean to be rude but, if you read through the previous 16 odd pages then you will get a pretty clear understanding of what went on.
