1101: Now this is getting interesting

CGA will come into play, surely.
I and many others stick with Telecom , paying higher than market pricing, JUST so I can keep the @xtra email adress
That was part of the deal when I signed up many many years ago, I now have become reliant on it .

So since yahoo/xtra email isnt 100% 'fit for purpose' surely telecom home internet users are due a partial refund.
Its time for the commerce commission to get involved.

Telecom need to be forced to start offering partial refunds (watch how quick things would change if that ever happened)

If the Xtra email was truley 'free' , then Telecom wouldnt charge for that service when users change ISP & want to keep the xtra email open.

You can go elsewhere. You just have to pay them a dial-up plan rate to keep it. (it use to be a $2.50/mn fee)

But do they still have dial up plans at that rate? From their website it doesn't look like they do apart from if you live in the chatham islands.

Looks like Spark may have another wave of these problems with their email users getting spam sent out via their xtra.co.nz addresses. Have had quite a few today from people who have me in their address book. I don't think the spam is coming directly from the Spark email servers due to the headers showing it is coming from     server1.happyharegroup.com.  I think the spammers are possibly just using previously hacked contact details.

Yes, I've had some too.

It's been known for some time now that these messages haven't been coming from Yahoo's servers, at least the last several batches of them. Our email addresses have been harvested from many hacked Yahoo account address books sometime in the past. There's nothing we can do about it now. *astards!

Tivo upgrades to operate with the new OzTivo EPG, support and service. Over 400 performed here so far. See: www.hillcrest.net.nz

Wouldn't adding SPF records to the xtra domain help this though? These are obviously spoofed if they aren't getting sent from the spark email servers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sender_Policy_Framework

Yes it's absurd that Spark still don't have spf records for their domains yet.

Would there be a reason why their wouldn't add them?

Presumably it's because Yahoo is not providing a spf include record like Google and Microsoft do, or negligence.....

They are having some sort of DNS issues atm, and mail platforms tend to stop quite spectacularly without correct DNS resolution :)

Not true, have a look at the bottom right hand side of http://www.spark.co.nz/. There you will find the 'service status' shows that there are some broadband problems. Click on the broadband icon for more details of the current problem.

Hope this helps.

I note that there is no announcement on their status page, but looks like quite a few people are posting about it on their facebook page.

I don't see this recognised as a problem in the Spark service status unless it is a small problem they are looking into, but it has been driving me mad for the last few days. Anybody know ?
