It will be interesting to read comments here in say two months time after the lemmings all sign up for it and find that their broadband has gone to dial up speed..

NZDSL speedtest:
Download Speed: 12259 kbps (1532.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 790 kbps (98.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

No noticeable difference in web browsing speed, Youtube vids don't need to buffer.
I loaded up a couple of http downloads (Microsoft.com, Nvidia.com)/private torrents and they seem to be maxing out @ approx 200KBps. Sure, the download speeds aren't initially as high as the 1MBps+ I was getting before but I will be able to download a significant amount more than 20GB per month. I'll test again when I get home late tonight

I'm suprised ,as i thought they will be availbe on 7/7...Good on you mate.I just swiched to Telecom from Xnet and look forward to join the Big Time...lol...

The plan change form is currently down, so I reckon it is being updated at the moment.

Good job! id say you will be one of the first on it! Will be interesting to see how/if the service degrages in the next month as the next few thousand customers come online

So I live in Auckland and (almost) never make calls out from my landline to mobiles, national or international numbers which makes toll rates irrelevant to me.

Comparing the pricing of the options:

Homeline + Big Time: $42 + $59 = $101
Total Home Lite + Big Time: $85 + $20 = $105
Total Home: $99 + $10 = $109

Is this correct or can you not get HomeLine without some kind of toll call packaged?

I wonder why they don't offer a second tier version, priced at say $100, which would give better speeds (ie a bigger bandwidth pool). I'm sure there would be plenty of people willing to pay that much.

That's promising something... they got spanked over go large cuz the advertising said it would be fast :P

its an unlimited plan, if you make any kinds of promises as far as bandwidth goes you'll get a repeat of go large. thats the point of this plan, you are willing to put up with knocked back speeds here and tehre (although i havnt had any issues, only p2p which is still giving 15-20g per day) but knowing you wont hit your cap and wont be throttled. a lot of people out there will want higher certanty in their speed, and those people will be better off with adventure or pro.

I have been downloading the entire day with torrent speeds varying between 200 and 250KBps. I can browse the internet no problem at the same time

A number of people have mentioned trialling it and then possibly reverting back to the their old plans. Are Telecom not going to give the usual 12/24 month signup conditions? It would be nice if you could switch as and when you liked, as I could definitely do with unlimited downloads during August. I'm currently on the Total Home plan with a 20GB limit and hit the cap most months.

If you’re an existing Telecom Broadband customer you can change plans and won't be placed into a contract. So you can go from the 20GB TH plan to Big Time with TH. Telecom also allow you to change to Big Time from a standard plan and back again within the same month (i.e. 2 plan changes, where as all other plans have a limit of 1 change per billing cycle / month).
